Jakuzi's Attempt (28.01.07)

Jakuzi's Attempt prinašajo tisto odprtost, ki jo v hardcore/punk sceni manjka. Na evropski turneji sem se jim pridružil za štiri dni, in izkazali so se za prijazen in zanimiv bend. Vsak koncert, ki so ga igrali je bil boljši od prejšnega, nabit z energijo in spontanostjo njihovega nastopa. Teh tipov res ni za zamuditi, naslednjič pa se bojo v ozkogledni Sloveniji predstavili 23.2.2007 v klubu MKC v Kopru s še tremi slovenskimi bendi!

-Tell me how you all got together, how the concept of Jakuzi's Attempt was born, where did it come from?
We were lead together by a clown who promised us that he would all make us float... Martin and Markus where doing it for quite a while, Markus met Hannes at some show. Markus met Sancho at the end of a long road. He joined Markus on the way back...
The concept as it is actually grew out of proportion. When we started to write the songs, we basically wanted to push the limits as far as our personal perception of music, art and communication is concerned. The central abstract elements that appear in between the songs have been influenced by various artists, books, movies we all "consumed" over the years. It never felt like we wanted to force ourselves into some sort of restrictive corset that keeps us from looking over the edge. "When there is no god, everything is allowed", the russian author Dostojewski once wrote. In the postmodern western society everything has lost its value. Nothing is stable, everything is deconstructable, identity is just a matter of "self assembling". Strategies are needed. We must react. Jakuzi's Attempt is the angry, soul searching machine that seems to pave us a "way to Venice".



-What is the whole concept of Jakuzi's travel to Venice?
The term "Venice" is what cultural history would describe as "lieux de memoire" in english translation "a place of memory". It doesn't really exist. As a matter of fact it could be anything, anywhere, anytime. I made it up. It's all about "self assembling". Disappointed?

-What is your view on all the crazy marketing tactics, hypercapitalism, globalization, the megamachine?
Shell Tankstell', alternative fuel : fart gas...consumption function, apathy, global marching in lockstep, hyperreal reactions : Jesus action figures with poseable arms and gliding action, fundamentalist christian emo, populism. Che, Paris Hilton, Adolf Hitler, who is who ? It's the time after the orgy. Everything has been liberated... "Try now to be another human self assembley kit" The enlightement failed!

-How did the process of recording and publishing your first recording go?
We recorded the drums in a studio in Klagenfurt (Austria) and the other stuff in the rehearsal room we had back then. A badsounding and unhealthy room. The only really cool thing was the very long hall way leading to our room. That was the perfect place to record the vocals and noises for "If you hear it".

-What do you do besides the band, are you in school or work?
Yes, school, work, in the gym 3 times a week, getting laid once a week, keeping it real 24/7

-Your live shows are amazing, what was the weirdest comment you got?
Some kid in belgium described us as "zotte mannen met hun beats"; and some people asked us whether we were a white power band.



-I know there were some people labeling Jakuzi's Attempt as artsy-fartsy? What are your comments on that?
Well, that one has deeply inspired us. We´re working on a project where we are using the gasses that are revealed in the process of farting to run the flyingmashine we build with our own hands. We´re so excited, it still takes a lot of tests but we´re looking forward to our first flight.

-Where is Jakuzi now? What can we expect next?
Just look for a circle under the moon. Expect a show on the moon.
